Jazz it up in Trondheim
Estonian jazz musician Kadri Voorand is a frequent traveller, mainly for work. She is no stranger to Berlin, Stockholm, Brussels or Munich. She would also gladly travel to Split or Rijeka because she finds Croatia an interesting destination with exciting music and beautiful scenery.
What is your favourite destination for the summer?
Trondheim in Norway! I would always go back there. It’s one of the most beautiful places on this side of the globe. For me, as a hiking enthusiast, it is essential that you can quickly reach different mountain hiking destinations from Trondheim. I suggest you spend at least a week climbing some mountains and not answering business calls. If possible, leave your computer at home.
Trondheim is also a good place to visit because for those who wish for a bit of culture, it offers many possibilities in visual arts and music. It has one of the most interesting jazz clubs, which is different from other clubs because it plays a lot of off-mainstream jazz and alternative music. It's a small town, but a lot is happening all the time.
What are the three things you would not travel without?
I mainly travel because of my work, and that means that my luggage is always full of metal things, such as guitar effects and other audio systems that I use in my concerts for creating different voices. My luggage always seems to weigh exactly 20kg, and I hold my breath that everything gets packed. But this is just for the sake of art!

The second thing that is is always with me is a microphone.
And thirdly there is always a pair of sneakers. When I am performing a solo show, I cannot go on stage without my sneakers. I need sneakers to jump on stage. And because I like to go on long walks, sneakers are also good for this purpose.
