Estonian airline Nordica’s subsidiary Regional Jet OÜ has won a contract to provide service on a Swedish domestic route.

Nordica’s subsidiary Regional Jet OÜ, which provides aviation service to both its parent company and several other clients, won the contract to provide service on this Swedish domestic route.The routes in question are state-subsidized air links between the cities of Stockholm, Gällivare and Arvidsjauri and the newly signed procurement contract runs until October 2019. Flights between Stockholm and Gällivare and Arvidsjauri in the north of Sweden will start on 15 September.

Flights on the aforementioned route ended in late May due to the bankruptcy of local airline Nextjet.The Swedish aviation board called for tenders under expedited procedure, and the Estonian airline was awarded the contract.The route will be served by Nordica’s 88-90-seat CRJ900 jet.

Nordica’s marketing and communication director Toomas Uibo says the Estonian company has previous experience serving this route.“Back in 2016, we were a subcontractor for Nextjet on this route and we thus have a good overview of the expense base of the service we’ll be providing.I would call this a very positive event for the Estonian airline and we are totally satisfied with the agreement that has been reached,” said Uibo.

In its two and one-half years of activity, Estonian airline Nordica has become a significant regional airline, operating a fleet of 19 aircraft, making it the largest Estonian aviation company ever.Nordica successfully exports aviation services to Sweden, Denmark, Poland and the Netherlands and employs more than 450 aviation specialists both at home and abroad.
