HAND BAGGAGE 

All passengers, 2 years and above, can bring one hand baggage within the measurements 55x40x23cm and maximum 8 kilos. 

NB! Rules for carry-on on aircraft type Saab, maximum dimensions are 45x35x20 cm, and cannot weigh more than 8 kg. The Saab aircraft is operated on destinations Arvidsjaur -Arlanda v.v ND813/ND814.

Hand baggage must fit in the overhead shelf on board or under the preceding front passenger's seat. 

In addition to the above cabin baggage allowance, the following items may be carried free of charge: 

  • ladies handbag or shoulder-strapped bag or laptop bag (40 x 35 x 12 cm) 
  • food and collapsible baby stroller or pushchair for a child 

 

TRANSPORT OF LIQUIDS 

Passengers are allowed to bring only small amounts of liquid items in their hand baggage, packed in individual containers of no more than 100 ml in volume. Packages must be put in one transparent re-closable plastic bag. Each passenger may carry maximum 1 liter of liquid in the hand baggage. 

 

 

Liquid items include: 

  • Water and other beverages, soups, syrups 
  • Lotions, tonics and oils 
  • Perfumes 
  • Aerosols 
  • Gels, including hair and shower gels 
  • The contents of pressurized containers, including shaving foam, other foams and deodorants  
  • Pastes, including toothpastes 
  • Mixtures of solid and liquid substances 
  • Mascaras and other items of similar consistency 

Passengers are not permitted to carry the following items in their carry-on baggage: 

  • Weapons or their parts, explosives e.g. ammunition, firecrackers 
  • Fireworks, blasting caps, sharp metal items e.g. scissors, daggers, sabres 
  • Solid and liquid flammable materials e.g. spirits, lighter gas,  
  • Solvents, paints, matches, compressed gases e.g. aerosols with flammable contents 
  • Toxic substances e.g. pesticides 
  • Corrosive substances 
  • Other hazardous items e.g. items that generate a strong magnetic field 

Registrated baggage (checked-in bags) is divided into Normal baggage and Special baggage. 

 

 

NORMAL BAGGAGE

Suitcases, duffle bags, sports bags or backpacks within standard weight.  

An ordinary checked bag may not exceed 32 kg on any ND operated flight. If exceeding 32 kg, it must be repacked into two bags or sent as cargo.

SPECIAL BAGGAGE 

Animals in hold (AVIH), bikes, bulky baggage (BULK), musical instruments, sporting equipment or wheelchairs, exceeding the standard size and/or weight.   

Standard maximum weight is 32kg.  
Exceptions: AVIH, wheelchairs, sporting equipment and musical instruments that cannot be split or repacked. AVIH max weight can be up to 60kg, Large (unspecified) sporting equipment max weight up to 50kg.

MAXIMUM BAGGAGE WEIGHT 

Maximum baggage weight regardless of baggage allowance is 32 kg for  each piece of luggage. 
Excemption: sports equipment or musical instrument that cannot be split or repacked has maximum baggage weight 50 kg. 

SDR SPECIAL DRAWING RIGHTS  

SDR is a composite unit of currency, which is the official unit of exchange of the International Monetary Fund. 

SDR came into existence as a result of the Warsaw Convention, which is a type of international law that all airlines must follow. SDR is therefore also used in ND Conditions of Carriage, where baggage liability is described. Current exchange rates for SDR can be found in local financial publications and banks. SPECIAL BAGGAGE 

Odd types of special baggage, such as for example sporting equipment, exceeding the standard weight and dimension limits in the respective booking classes (23/32kg- 50/70lbs and 158cm/62in) must be requested in advance. 

Bulky items 

Bulky/voluminous items must be requested for load planning purpose. State weight and measurements: Length x Width x Height. 

 

Athletic Teams/Sporting equipment 

Athletic teams travelling with bulky/voluminous items must request their baggage for load planning purposes and to be sure that the aircraft can accommodate the excess baggage. State the total volume of baggage in cubic meters and total weight and the dimension of the single largest piece. 

SPORTING EQUIPMENT – SPEQ (including Musical Instruments and Backpacks) 

All type of Sporting Equipment SPEQ (different SR SPEQ, including MUSIC  and BPACK) may be included in the free baggage allowance (FBA), except unspecified medium SPEQ (when weight is over 23kg) or unspecified large SPEQ.  

If the free baggage allowance for sporting equipment is exceeded by number of pieces (PC) and weight to the respective ticket class, the excess baggage fee will be collected according to the sporting equipment table.   

Bicycles – BIKE 

The following are considered as one bicycle: 

  • Regular bicycle (without motor or e-bike) 
  • Tandem - accepted on ND flights operating by CRJ-900 only
  • Special children trolley for use with bicycle

FIREARMS, OTHER WEAPONS AND AMMUNITION 

Introduction 

Firearms or other weapons are carried as checked baggage provided they are suitably packed and ammunition removed. 

Only weapons and ammunition for hunting and sporting purposes may be accepted as checked baggage and must be loaded inaccessibly in aircraft cargo holds. Rules for personal protection weapons see below. 

Note: Weapons are never included in the free baggage allowance and shall always be charged for, regardless other baggage. 

Passenger is obliged to inform about firearms at time of reservation and must declare it at the check-in counter upon departure. Special routines for transportation of firearms apply. 

Ammunition 

Ammunition must be carried as checked baggage only and shall consist of small arms ammunition only. Ammunition with explosives or incendiary projectiles is not allowed. 

Ammunition must be securely packed, for personal use only and must not be carried in quantities exceeding 5kg / 11lb per box and passenger. 

Each passenger must carry their own box of maximum 5kg. Allowances for more than one passenger must not be combined into one or more packages. 

Definitions of firearms, other weapons and ammunition 

There are three categories of weapons defined: 

Hunting weapons: hunting rifles and hunting shotguns. 

Sporting weapons: weapons designed for sporting purposes. (Replica and antique firearms should be regarded as sporting weapons). 

Personal protection weapons: arms, defensive in nature, in the possession of police officers, other law enforcement officers, bodyguards and duty authorized persons for their own personal protection.

Charges: 

Weapons may not be included in the free baggage allowance. 

One fee per passenger shall be charged, irrespective of bags containing firearm parts and/or ammunition. For weapon charges, see Nordica’s Ancillary Services. 

Note: free of charge for police, bodyguards and duty authorized persons, including military personnel, on active duty. 

URNS IN HAND LUGGAGE 

Nordica accepts urns as hand luggage provides packed and sealed properly. 

Intension of carrying an Urn should be stated in the reservation (SR CKIN). 

SR CKIN -URN WITH HUMAN ASHES/S3 

Only funeral urns can be accepted. Passenger must inform check-in staff about the urn in the baggage. Carriage of urn (human ashes) is free of charge. 

MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS 

Introduction 

A musical instrument can be carried in the cabin on two conditions: 

  • If the instrument fits into following parameters- the item’s max weight is up to 15kg and max dimensions are 100x35x25cm, it’s possible to book as the Fragile Item in the Cabin                (SR FRAG). The service must be booked and confirmed in advance. Booking format sample in Amadeus:   SR FRAG NN1 – VIOLIN 5KG DIM70X40X23CM/S4   Special fee per FRAG item is available, see Nordica’s Ancillary Services. 

 

  • Provided a charge for extra seat is paid. Seat must be requested already at time of reservation. The musical instrument is accepted for carriage in the cabin as CBBG. To book the musical instrument onto the seat, the item’s max dimensions can be 150x50x35cm and max weight up to 75kg. See booking and ticketing guidelines in „Reservation and Ticketing“ part.     

All other cases, the musical instruments can be accepted and transported as registered (checked in) baggage in the plane’s cargo compartment. Special tariff for checked in musical instruments is available (see Nordica’s Ancillary Services).
