Cats and dogs are accepted for transportation in the cabin and in the luggage compartment, with some exceptions

THE ANIMALS MUST BE TRANSPORTED IN A SUITABLE CONTAINER                         

OR KENNEL WHICH IS PROVIDED BY THE PASSENGER, WHICH MEETS 

NORDICA REQUIREMENTS REGARDING ITS WEIGHT, DIMENTIONS               

AND CONSTRUCTION. EACH CONTAINER MUST BE SUITABLE FOR THE ANIMAL(S),            

IT MUST IN GENERAL ALLOW THE ANIMAL(S) TO STAND UP, TURN AND LIE DOWN           

IN A NATURAL MANNER.

Passenger with pet in cabin or service animal may not be seated in the first row and at emergency exit rows. 

Maximum of 4 pets in the aircraft cabin are allowed per flight (including escort and service dogs) 

Max dims 56 x 45 x 25 cm and max gross weight 8 kg (dogs and cats) 

Authorization 

Authorization to bring a pet in the cabin (PETC) should be requested through reservation offices in advance. When pet  in cabin has been confirmed, it is shown in the passenger’s PNR. 

More than one pet in the container 

Pet container may include more than one pet as long as they are of the same kind, e.g. two kittens, and do not exceed the maximum weight and measures allowed. They also have to be comfortable. 

Organizing the journey 

If the Passenger carries an animal in the cabin or in the baggage hold, remember it should have: 

  • up-to-date vaccination records (against rabies), 
  • up-to-date veterinary health certificates, (clinical examination, deworming, deticking) taking into account the regulations of the country of departure, the country of destination and any transit airports (issued max. 48 hours before departure)*, 
  • special passport (issued by a vet) with description of color, race and sex of the animal together with a microchip number or tattoo, 
  • microchip implant, 
  • suitable container. 
  • Only animals that are at least 3 months old and have had their last important rabies vaccination at least 21 days ago may be carried. 

AVIH - TRANSPORTATION OF ANIMALS IN HOLD

The request must include number of crates/animals, type of animal, total weight of the animal and the measurement, length x width x height, of the crate/container. 

Max dimensions per crate on CRJ900 are: L110 x W76 x H73 and 60kg 

It is possible to transport more than one animal per container. However, there are certain rules that have to be fulfilled: 

As a breeding pair, a maximum of two adult animals of comparable size up to 14 kg each may be accepted in the same container/crate. Animals over that weight must travel individually. 

Animals up to six months old from the same litter, up to the maximum quantity of three, may be accepted in the same container/crate.   Reference: IATA LAR (Live Animal Regulations). 

We don't accept live animals in the hold (AVIH) on SE domestic routes, during the winter period 1 November - 31 March.

Cats and dogs are always accepted for transportation in the luggage compartment. 

AVIH must be requested in advance.  

Animals other than cats and dogs accepted as AVIH: 

  • Rabbits 
  • Ferrets 
  • Birds

REBOOKING OF FLIGHT 

Voluntary rebooking 

Prepaid PETC or AVIH may be rebooked when the trip is rebooked. 

Valid only for same routing or same departure and arrival destination.  

Secure that EMD is linked to the new prepaid PETC or AVIH SSR, and the ticket and EMD is re-associated.  

Involuntary rebooking 

If rebooking is involuntary and PETC or AVIH is paid for, prepaid EMD-A is valid for new flights if rerouted on ND 

REISSUE FROM PETC TO AVIH - allowed 

Service Animals (SVAN/ESAN) 

Definition 

Service animals are such as: 

  • Seeing Eye dogs 
  • Assisting and emotional support dog 
  • Sniffer dogs belonging to the police or to the customs, trained to find explosives or narcotics or acting as mountain rescue dogs. 

Rule 

Service animals, on which the accompanying passengers are dependent, may be carried in cabin as unchecked  baggage. The service animal is excluded from weight limitations and container/crate requirements. A restraint harness/leash must be brought by the passenger in order to secure and restrain the animal during the entire flight. Two (2) service animals are allowed on the same flight provided, total number of service animals and pets does not exceed 4 per flight. 

Note: Same rules also apply when service animals under training are travelling with the trainer 


Emotional Support Animal 

Only dogs can be accepted as an emotional support on board Nordica aircraft. 

Request for free of charge emotional support animal must be documented by letter that states the following: 

  • The letter must not be more than one year old; 
  • Passenger has mental health-related disability; 
  • Presence of the animal is necessary to the passenger’s health or treatment; 
  • Individual writing the letter is a licensed mental health professional and that the passenger is under his or her care. 

HOW TO BOOK 

ESAN- Emotional support animals must be requested with one of below codes: 

Entry: SR ESAN-DOG FOR EMOTIONAL SUPPORT or SR SVAN ESAN-DOG FOR EMOTIONAL SUPPORT 

Rates 

Service animals are carried free of charge. When animal is carried in the cabin it is excluded from weight limitations and container requirements.
