According to the Board Member of Nordic Aviation, Erik Sakkov, the flight of the company’s own first aircraft is one step closer towards becoming a real airline. “Until now, we have struggled to ensure the continuation of direct flights from Tallinn with the help of our partners. Now we can start properly focusing on quality. Creating our own fleet and having Estonian teams on board will create these opportunities,” said Sakkov.

This is the first aircraft in the fleet of Nordic Aviation. After this, the company hopes to transfer to aircraft of its own at the pace of one airplane per month, so the second aircraft, also a CRJ700, should commence its first flight in February. By summer, Nordic Aviation hopes to increase its fleet to six planes, which are all intended to be CRJ-type.

The commencing CRJ700 has been dry-leased from US lessor Regional One. The aircraft is operated by Nordic Aviation Group, working under Adria Airways’ air operator certificate.
